Visiting us

image_placeholder.png

Because St Catherine’s is a Hospice rather than a hospital, we don’t have formal ‘visiting hours’, we simply ask visitors to be considerate about the timing and duration of their visits so that patients can rest.

Contact with family members and loved ones is important to many of our patients so we can make arrangements for a member of the family or a close friend to stay overnight if this is requested.  Similarly, we’re happy for children to come to visit too but it’s essential that they are supervised by a responsible adult throughout their visit and that they do not disturb other patients.

Often people come to St Catherine’s after being cared for at home by a family member and sometimes their carer wants to remain involved in their care while they are with us. Where this is the case we will try to accommodate patients’ and carers’ wishes and keep them involved in the patient’s care if this is appropriate.  Usually, however, a stay in the hospice provides some essential rest for the carer, allowing them to spend quality time with the patient and concentrate on providing emotional support while we provide for their physical needs.

Public Transport & Parking

We are ideally situated in the heart of central Lancashire with easy access to the M6, M61 and M65. Manchester is just 45 minutes away, Liverpool 50 minutes and Preston city centre is only a 15 minute drive. We have ample free parking and there are good rail and bus links to and from Preston City Centre.
