Donate in Wills
In 2010 one in five of our patients was funded by gifts in wills making them one of the largest and most important sources of income for St Catherine’s Hospice. Donating in this way is simple and a great way to help us keep bringing care to future generations.

All you need to do is stipulate St Catherine’s as a beneficiary when you make or update your Will, either by specifying the amount or items you wish to donate or by naming the Hospice as the beneficiary for all or part of the residue of your estate (the part that’s left over once all your specific bequests have been made).
Not everyone has a will but everyone should – no matter how old you are, no matter whether you have considerable assets or just a small amount to leave behind. If a person dies without leaving a will, their estate may not be distributed in the way they would have wanted.
To make a Will, simply visit a solicitor who will charge a small fee for drawing up a Will for you. It’s important to stipulate exactly what you’d like each beneficiary to receive and outline any conditions. If you’d like to include St Catherine’s in your will, simply provide the form of words below to your solicitor and he/she will include it for you.
For a specific request: If you are leaving a specific bequest, i.e. an exact sum of money or a specific item:-
"I give the sum of £.... (or the item to be specified) to St Catherine's Hospice, Lostock Lane, Lostock Hall, Preston, Lancashire PR5 5XU for its general charitable purposes. I further direct that the receipt of the Director of Income Generation, Administrator or other proper Officer of St Catherine's Hospice, for the time being, shall be a full and sufficient discharge for the said legacy."
For part or all of the residue of your estate:
"I give (enter the word 'all' or 'share') of the residue of my estate to St Catherine's Hospice, Lostock Lane, Lostock Hall, Preston, Lancashire PR5 5XU for its general charitable purposes. I further direct that the receipt of the Director of Income Generation, Administrator or other proper Officer of St Catherine's Hospice, for the time being, shall be a full and sufficient discharge for the said legacy"
Thank you for thinking about donating to St Catherine's in your Will.
