Where Your Donations Go

It costs £4.9 million a year to run the Hospice and maintain the level of care we currently provide to patients and their families and yet, less than a third of that income is provided by the NHS; we rely on donations and fundraising to provide the rest.

St Catherine's is probably one of the best ways to make your charitable donation go further because by our clever use of gift aid, our ability to compete for and win external funding and our wonderful team of around 600 volunteers we are able to turn your £1 donation into £9!

Your donation, no matter how big or small, is essential to us, and these are just a few of the ways in which we will put your money to good use by:

  • being there for patients, carers and families at a time 'when it really matters most'
  • caring for people at home as well as in the Hospice
  • providing highly specialised teams, led by leading consultants in the field, to help people find quality of life when living with an incurable medical condition like cancer, motor neurone disease, heart failure, Parkinson's disease and others
  • providing help with all those seemingly 'little' things that are actually very important and really matter
  • providing that magic ingredient of time that enables each person's situation to be properly understand
  • helping us to keep improving and developing our services to alleviate suffering and bring a quality of life that is really worth having
  • helping us to support and train health professionals working locally through our education programmes so that as many people as possible can benefit from palliative care and keep living in their own home
