How can the Fundraising Team help?
Information and Advice
When you’re organising an event it’s useful to have someone with whom you can bounce ideas around and who can give you advice and encouragement. Our experienced team of fundraisers are keen to help you with tips and suggestions. You can chat on the phone or arrange to call into the Hospice. Alternatively, we can come out to you.
If you’ve got an idea for any event we can talk it through, make you aware of possible problems and come up with ideas to help solve them. If you’ve got an idea and you’re not sure where to start, please call us on 01772 324540.
Posters
If you’re not sure about designing a poster, the Fundraising Team is here to help. Just call 01772 324540 with details of your event. The more notice (hope you like the pun!) you can give us the better.
If you want to design your own posters we can provide you with copies of the St Catherine’s logo. Just e-mail fundraising@stcatherines.co.uk. You must also show our charity number, which we can give you, on all literature.
T Shirts
We have St Catherine’s Hospice T shirts that can be used, if appropriate, for your event, so that people know that you are representing and supporting St Catherine’s.
Collecting Buckets
You might want a collecting bucket. We can help. We ask people, when possible, to pick them up from the hospice. If you can please try to give at least 24 hours notice to prepare.
We can also design bucket labels that are unique to your event.
Physiotherapy
St Catherine’s Hospice have teamed up with Your Physiotherapy who are offering discounts for their services to supporters of St Catherine’s before and after sponsored events.

Organising your own sponsored event
If you’re organising an event, maybe just yourself or with a couple of friends it’s quite simple.
If you call the fundraising team on 01772 324540 we provide you with your own personalised sponsor form and a T shirt to let everyone know that you are supporting St Catherine’s Hospice.
Health and Safety is a vital issue that you must consider. Are there any safety considerations that you need to make? Will you need any specialist safety gear? Will you need to train beforehand?

Register Your Event
Sponsor Money
All money raised on behalf of St Catherine’s Hospice should be donated to the Hospice.
If some of the money raised by your sponsorship is to be used to pay for some of your costs or for some other use, you must make this clear to both St Catherine’s Hospice and the people sponsoring you.
Collecting sponsor money. This can take some time. We recommend that when possible you ask people to pay their sponsor money up front.
Sponsoring online. You can create an online sponsor account through a website called Just Giving or Virgin Money Giving.
This is an easy way for people to sponsor you directly – and it also means that you don’t have to collect the money from them. It will come directly to St Catherine’s.
To register go to just click on the buttons here.
You will see a section called Start Fundraising. Click on the Get Started button and you can register your details from there. When you link your account to St Catherine’s Hospice make sure that it’s St Catherine’s (Lancashire) Ltd.
Gift Aid. If your sponsor is a tax payer St Catherine’s can claim gift aid from the tax office to the value of 25% of the amount they sponsor you for. To claim this we need their full name and home address (not their work address). The more people who agree to gift aid their sponsor money, the more you will raise. This is "free money" for the hospice!
Match Funding. Some companies support their employees who are involved in charitable fundraising by matching the money they raise (sometimes up to a specified limit). Why not ask your Human Resources department to see if they match fund?
