Patient Transport

Patients invited to attend our day therapy services will need to travel to the Hospice and where they have their own transport available or can rely on lifts from a friend or family member they will usually make their own arrangements for getting to appointments.

Where this is not the case, St Catherine’s has a team of volunteer drivers with their own vehicles who provide lifts to and from the Hospice for day therapy patients.
Sometimes patients will have special requirements that cannot be accommodated with an ordinary vehicle, such as wheelchair transport or oxygen provision. For these circumstances we can arrange transport by ambulance. Ambulance transport is sometimes also available for outpatient clinics including those for the Lymphoedema Service or Community Consultant.
For patients being admitted to the Hospice an ambulance is usually arranged by their own GP or by the hospital from which they are being transferred.
