Christmas charity ball success
A demolition firm from Preston hosted a glittering Christmas Charity Ball to raise funds for St Catherine’s Hospice.
Pete Marquis, who owns the firm of the same name, hosted the event at Ribby Hall and raised a fantastic £10,080.
He said: “It’s because of the generous people that purchased tables and auction prizes which made the evening so special.
“That coupled with entertainment from Steve Bayliss and Daryl Edwards made for a brilliant evening, and raised much-needed funds for this year’s chosen charity, St Catherine’s Hospice.”
On the night, 320 people attended to show their support including the Fylde Mayor, Heather Speak and the Lady Mayor of Preston and Consort.
Guests were treated to a three-course meal and entertainment provided by Daryl Edwards and Steve Bayliss.
Lynne Whittaker, senior fundraiser at St Catherine’s Hospice said: “It was a fabulous evening and Dave did a great job of putting the event together.
“Everybody was extremely welcoming and generous to St Catherine’s Hospice and an amazing amount was raised to help us to continue offering our specialised care to people in the local community.”
Pete, who is familiar with the specialised palliative and end of life care provided by St Catherine’s, said: “Visiting St Catherine’s Hospice makes you realise how fortunate you are. However, the care provided by the dedicated staff there is second to none and the emotional support they offer people really makes a difference.
“As long as our friends and colleagues continue to attend our events, we will continue to hold these functions on an annual basis to help good causes in our community.”
