CEO: Stephen Greenhalgh

A former Chief Officer in local government, troop commander in Royal Signals, RAF Chaplain, paramedic and counsellor, Stephen’s role as CEO means that he’s responsible to St Catherine’s Board for all aspects of the Hospice’s operations this includes patient care, income generation, finance and technical services.

Stephen is currently the North West representative on the national advisory council for Help the Hospices, he has wide-ranging professional qualifications including an MA in Integrative Counselling, a BA (hons) in Theology, a diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and registration as a commercial mediator.

Stephen enjoys walking his black Labrador, trying to keep up with his family and supporting his favourite football team.

 

Director of Care: Jimmy Brash

Responsible for all care services delivered by St Catherine’s, including in-patients, day therapy, lymphoedema, family support, chaplaincy and rehabilitation, Jimmy trained as a registered nurse at the Royal Liverpool Hospital, qualifying in 1991. Jimmy also has a BA (Hons) in Community Health Care and MA in Healthcare Law. His experience spans acute general and renal medicine, district nursing and hospice care and he spent five years as a Macmillan nurse at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust before joining the team at St Catherine’s in 2003.

In addition to his care services responsibilities, Jimmy also has several administrative and compliance roles at the Hospice.  He is the Hospice’s Caldicott Guardian, with responsibility for protecting patients’ personal information and data; our Accountable Officer with responsibility for ensuring legal compliance in all matters relating to controlled drugs and our Registered Manager with responsibility for ensuring that the Hospice complies with all standards set by the Care Quality Commission.

Medical Director: Alison Parr

A consultant in palliative medicine, Alison has overall responsibility for the clinical care of patients at St Catherine’s Hospice and their families, working closely with our Director of Care to lead clinical service development.  Alison also works at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust, supporting the hospital palliative care team and working with other teams to contribute to palliative care service developments across Central Lancashire, Lancashire and South Cumbria Cancer Network.

Alison joined the team at St Catherine’s Hospice in 2009 having trained in palliative medicine at the North West Deanery. She became a member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) in 1995 and completed an MSc in Oncology in 1999.  Added to the specialist register in 2001, she has been a consultant since 2002.

In addition to her role at St Catherine’s and her Lancashire Teaching Hospitals responsibilities, Alison is also currently leading the local Palliative Care Education Group and taking a lead role in developments within the Lancashire Palliative Care Research Network. She also co-ordinates the Lancashire and South Cumbria Palliative Care Physicians Group.

Director of Income Generation: Lorraine Charlesworth

As a former chief officer in the public sector Lorraine has twenty years experience in human resources and organisational development before moving to the charity sector and joining the St Catherine's team in 2010. Since the Hospice has to raise such vast sums of money these days, her skills are being put to good use as she develops and coordinates our teams in their various income generating roles.

The broad portfolio of income generation includes the weekly lottery, eleven charity shops, fundraising, events, donations, bids to trust funds, gifts in wills, communications and marketing.  Lorraine's role includes strategic development for generating income as the Hospice works to keep pace with the many new ways in which we trade, communicate and participate.

 

Director of Finance & Technical Services: Susan Clemson

A qualified chartered management accountant (ACMA, MBA), Susan has worked in financial roles with both the Chorley & South Ribble Health Authority and the Preston Health Authority as well as a private sector company and local government.

Sue's responsibilities at St Catherine’s include finance, IT, health & safety, maintenance, catering and housekeeping functions. This broad portfolio has never been more important than it is now as the Hospice seeks to safely navigate its way through the recession.

Sue is also a keen runner and has supported the Hospice through the London Marathon and other participatory events.
