Visiting us
Because St Catherine’s is a Hospice rather than a hospital, we don’t have formal ‘visiting hours’, we simply ask visitors to be considerate about the timing and duration of their visits so that patients can rest.
Contact with family members and loved ones is important to most of our patients so we can make arrangements for a member of the family or a close friend to stay overnight if this is requested. Similarly, we’re happy for children to come to visit too but it’s essential that they are supervised by a responsible adult throughout their visit and that they do not disturb other patients. All visitors are asked to use our readily available gels to help maintain our stringent infection prevention standards.
Often people come to St Catherine’s after being cared for at home by a family member so we will work together with a patient and their carer provided that this is what a patient wants. This may include a carer staying overnight with a patient, however, a stay in the Hospice sometimes provides essential rest for a carer so that more 'quality time' can be enjoyed at the next visit.
