IPU Volunteer
We are looking for a compassionate and caring team of volunteers to assist on the ward in a variety of tasks. The volunteer team are without doubt a huge support to our staff on the ward, if you have the time and can commit to shifts available please follow the link and complete a simple application form. Please note in order to volunteer on the ward you must have DBS clearance before you start and be available for a training day.
List of duties would be:
- Sign in volunteer book at reception & report for duty at the nurses station
- Answer the door to visitors, help show visitors in and out and ensure they sign in and out in the visitors book. Please check the bed occupancy list in case there are any visitor ‘referrals’
- Assist nursing staff with building security checks and locking up building
- Complete hot drinks round offering patients tea and coffee or a cold drink of their choice, offer milky drinks such as Horlicks or Ovaltine as bedtime drink
- General tidying, wash jugs, empty cups and tumblers in dishwasher, dry thoroughly and put away after washing
- Ask patients if they would like any evening snacks from the small kitchen
- Help to tidy sluices with nursing staff
- Ensure the small kitchen is tidy before leaving
- Check the trolley is clean and tidy before leaving
- Regularly wash hands and sanitise after been in every patient room
- After duty report to nurses station and sign out at reception
