What a paw-some time we had at Bark in the Park 2015!
Big thanks to every man, woman, child, and of course dog, who took part in our 2.5 mile sponsored walk through Avenham Park.
The sun even shone as we enjoyed a host of doggy-themed activities including competitions – where categories ranged from waggiest tail to prettiest pooch – sheep dog displays; and an agility course.
It was all organised in partnership with Preston Agility Dogs and Dog-tastic, who helped put on a fantastic doggy day out which also included a breeders village and a problem dog solving session.
Several local firms also gave their support including Hampaws by Heather, Kyla Jane Pet Photography, Superpet Warehouse from Preston, Forever Living Products and Simply Gifts from Accrington Market. Pinewood Vetinerary Surgery were on hand providing free micro-chipping.
Miss Junior Teen Preston Coley Watson, aged 14, was of our special guests who helped with the judging and said she had enjoyed the afternoon.
“I love dogs so it’s been really hard picking my favourites!” she said. “It’s been lots of fun and I’m really happy to have helped St Catherine’s.”
Georgina Sharples, who took part with her Jack Russell Sammy and her Mum Carol, said she’d had a great time.
The 13-year-old pupil from Brown Edge St Mary’s said: “We’ve taken part in Bark in the Park before and had really enjoyed it so wanted to sign up again. Sammy had a great time and it’s nice to support such an important local charity. My Mum was cared for at The Woodside lymphoedema clinic, so St Catherine’s is a place very close to our hearts.”
Jerome Favier, from Pinewood Vets, added: “It’s been great to see so many dogs and their owners enjoying a fun day out for a good cause. We’re very happy to be involved.”
