St Catherine’s is venturing to this exotic country again in 2020 for the iconic Dalai Lama Trek.
Following the incredible success of our first overseas trip to India in 2018, St Catherine’s is venturing to this exotic country again in 2020 for the iconic Dalai Lama Trek.
Members of #TeamStCatherine’s who took on the amazing five-day challenge last time said it was ‘a fantastic adventure’, ‘truly amazing’, and ‘one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done’.
We’re joining Global Adventure Challenges to host this trip of a lifetime in October 2020.
Here’s what our supporters said about their Dalai Lama Trek experience:
“Doing the Dali Lama Trek was without doubt one of the most challenging but most enjoyable things I have ever done. The sights, scenery, culture and camaraderie I experienced throughout our trip in India and on the trek was truly amazing and as an added bonus, I have met some fantastic people on the way. I’d urge anyone to give this a go!” – Sue.
“It was a fantastic adventure where I met some great people and made friends for life. I got more out of the walk than I expected; it was a great trek and the team really supported each other and helped get everyone through it.” – Tom
“I had such a wonderful time. The trek was tough but we saw some amazing sights, and the guides were brilliant and helped us along the way. One highlight for me was at the end of a very long day when we reached a summit and we were treated to the most spectacular views. Everyone was laughing, hugging, and posing for photos; it was just so beautiful and made everything worthwhile. The celebration meal and disco at the end was great fun too!” – Celia
“I couldn’t encourage anyone to take on this challenge more – the Dali Lama Trek to India raising funds for St Catherine’s Hospice in memory of my Dad is without doubt the most rewarding thing I have ever done. Tough – yes, but then it wouldn’t have been a challenge if it wasn’t. Have fun, challenge yourself and in turn meet some wonderful people who will be friends for life, and raise money for a fantastic local charity. Go on – make 2020 your year!” – Nicola
You’ll spend 10 days in this majestic country with five days of hiking through the foothills of the Indian Himalayas.
Our charity challenge begins in Dharamsala, where the Dalai Lama and the centre of the Tibetan Community are situated – the heart of the world’s highest mountain range.
You will have time to spend in this fascinating town before setting off on foot to explore this stunning region.
The five-day trek takes you through the Kingdom of Gaddi – a semi-nomadic race who spend months wandering the high passes with their cattle. With spectacular views of the Daula Dhar Mountain Range, our journey together takes us through rhododendron forests, passing through Hindu settlements and Buddhist Monasteries. This journey has everything we could ever wish for from a trip to India.
To end this most amazing of charity challenges, we have some free time to explore the incomparable Taj Mahal – one of the world’s greatest monuments to love ever built, and one of the new Seven Wonders of the World!
This is an amazing opportunity to see the world and raise thousands of pounds for St Catherine’s Hospice – helping us care for local people affected by conditions such as cancer, motor neurone disease and other life-shortening illnesses, helping them to have quality of life, to the end of life.
We would be unable to continue offering our specialist palliative and end-of-life care at the hospice and in people’s own homes if it wasn’t for the incredible efforts and determination of our supporters like you!
So do something remarkable for yourself and your charity in 2020, and join us for the information evening to find out more about supporting us in this life-changing way!
Please note that we are taking precautionary action to protect the safety of our communities and, in line with Government recommendations, we are cancelling all of our summer fundraising events until further notice. We are personally contacting everyone who has signed up or bought tickets for our events to offer a full refund. Thank you for your understanding.
