How To Provide Care As A New Carer (for Carers & Family Members)

Across the UK today 6.5 million people are carers, supporting a loved one who is older, disabled or seriously ill. And every day 6,000 people become new carers and find themselves in a very frightening and lonely place.

Attend this session to get some practical advice on looking after your loved one at home. And also to gain some emotional support to look after yourselves when you take on this important, yet demanding role.

Covering:            
The change in roles and relationships
Managing emotions
Looking after ourselves and being safe
Pillow positioning to aid comfort and breathing
When to ask for help and what help is available.
Practical session on bed bathing, changing bedding and night clothes.
Mouth and eye care.
Simple moving and handling techniques
