Symphony at the Tower 2016 with Joe Bonamassa

DSC_0867American blues and rock guitarist Joe Bonamassa took to the stage of Preston’s Guild Hall as part of St Catherine’s Hospice’s Symphony at the Tower weekend.

Sadly, two of the three concerts – Will Young on Friday and the classical orchestra and firework display on Sunday – had to be cancelled because of bad weather making the site at Hoghton Tower unsafe for visitors.

At short notice, Saturday night’s concert featuring Joe Bonamassa’s ‘Salute to the British Blues Explosion’ was rearranged to take place at the Guild Hall, with support act Joanne Shaw Taylor.

Stephen Greenhalgh, chief executive at St Catherine’s, said: “We would like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to all of our Symphony supporters for their understanding this weekend.

“While we were desperately disappointed that two of the shows were unable to go ahead, safety of visitors to Hoghton Tower was paramount and cancellation, whilst most regrettable, was unavoidable.

Again, we wish to express our gratitude for people’s understanding and patience as we put the new plans in place and worked closely with the Guild Hall to make the evening a successful event.

“Communication and team spirit was outstanding with everyone pulling together and showing what St Catherine’s is all about – dedicated, committed and passionate about those whom we serve.”
