Understanding Bereavement (October)

This session is both informative and interactive using video, group discussion and reflection. You will explore your own feelings about loss and bereavement and learn about the ways in which bereavement affects people.

You will also look at your own coping strategies for dealing with people who have been bereaved, and learn about the ways in which we can help with advice and support for the people in our care.

We will use the Kubler Ross model of grief to understand the grieving process and how people can be anywhere in the cycle at any one time.

Learning Objectives:

  • To understand what ‘bereavement’ is;
  • To understand what ‘grief’ is;
  • To be able to recognise the ‘cycle of grief’ (using Kubler Ross model of grief);
  • To identify the difference between ‘normal’ and ‘abnormal’ grief;
  • To explore ways in which we can provide advice and support to people who are bereaved.

Who is the session for?

Qualified nurses, GPs, AHPs or any health professional for whom this fits into their remit.

Cost: £65 per person
