Meet one of our volunteers
Margaret Evans is using her passion for books to support St Catherine’s by volunteering at the Chorley Book Shop.
She said: “I ran the library in Eaves Lane for 30 years and when I finished there I took a few months to really think about what I wanted to do next. I wanted to make sure that it was the right choice and I was ready for a regular commitment.
“I’m very pleased I decided to join the team at Chorley book shop. It’s wonderful being able to help people when they come in looking for a certain thing and very often they go away with what they want which is very satisfying. The team is made up of people with different backgrounds – like Judith who has worked in medical libraries and educational libraries, so we’re bringing different skills and experiences.
“The best bit is knowing that you’re supporting a wonderful charity like St Catherine’s and giving something back to the community. You don’t need a particular background or specialism to do this – just a willingness to give some of your time.”
Donate to our shops
Most of our shops rely on donations from members of the public for their stock and we always need clean, saleable items in good condition that people will want to buy.
