Fundraising

As a local charity for local people we couldn`t deliver the care we provide without the dedication and fantastic support of our local communities in Chorley, Longridge, Preston and South Ribble.

It will cost £4.9 million to deliver our services this year and with only a third of this being funded by the NHS the rest has to be raised in many different ways. To achieve this enormous amount every single donation, no matter how big or small, is absolutely vital as we gather it all together.

In addition to our large events such as the Moonlight Walk, Yellow Day and Symphony at the Tower our Fundraisers can help you to run an event on our behalf and we have lots of 'local heroes' who do just that. If you are not sure what to do, just give us a call and we will offer you plenty of tried and tested ideas.  We also have a weekly lottery where you could win up to £2,000 each week and our 11 charity shops are located across the three Boroughs which include furniture and book shops in addition to normal charity shops. To help us you can purchase or donate goods from our shops. By Gift Aiding your donation we can also claim an extra 25% in tax from the Government.

In 2010, 20% of our income was generated by supporters leaving gifts in wills. At present we are currently working with local solicitors to offer support and guidance for people who have not yet made a Will but would like to bequeath something to St Catherines.

Furthermore, we couldn’t do what we do without the support and dedication of hundreds of volunteers who share their time on a daily basis so that we are in a position to be 'there when it matters most'. Our wonderful volunteers are a vital part of our team whether they are working in our shops, helping out at events or working inside the Hospice - in the kitchen, on the ward, in Day Therapy, administration and in many other areas.
