In-patient Unit Volunteers
(Mainly weekend cover required)
We are looking for a compassionate and caring team of volunteers to assist on the ward in a variety of tasks. The volunteer team are without doubt a huge support to our staff on the ward, if you have the time and can commit to shifts available please follow the link and complete a simple application form. Please note in order to volunteer on the ward you must have enhanced DBS clearance before you start and be available for a training day.
List of duties
Answer the door to visitors, help show visitors in and out and ensure they sign in and out in the visitors book, check the bed occupancy list in case there are any visitor ‘referrals’
Complete drinks/snacks round offering patients refreshments
Serving meals
Assisting with feeding patients (once relevant training completed)
Sitting with patients to play games or reading to them, talking, crafts.
General tidying, wash jugs, empty cups and tumblers in dishwasher, dry thoroughly and put away after washing
Answering buzzers and informing a member of the nursing team.
Help to tidy sluices with nursing staff
Assist nursing staff with building security checks and locking up building
Ensure the small kitchen is tidy before leaving
Check the trolley is clean and tidy before leaving
