Light Up A Life
Light Up A Life is a special way to remember your loved ones by dedicating a light in the beautiful grounds of St Catherine’s Park over the festive period.
We know that paying tribute to family and friends in this way means so much to our communities, and we understand that this year has been especially difficult for those who have lost loved ones, as the pandemic has affected the ways we would usually come together to remember and celebrate special lives.
For this reason, Light Up A Life 2020 is perhaps even more significant than ever before, providing an opportunity to honour our amazing mums, dads, husbands, wives, grandmas, granddads, brothers, sisters, partners and friends over the poignant Christmas season.
Dedications also help to fund our vital care of local people, as we work hard to continue supporting patients and families affected by life-shortening conditions at the hospice and in people’s own homes.
Tributes are welcome in memory of anyone, and names will be entered into our online Light Up A Life Remembrance Book, which will be available to view here later in December.
Sadly we’re unable to host the lights switch-on ceremonies in our grounds as we normally would this year, to protect the safety of everyone, but we feel it’s so important for us all to reach out and support one another in new ways, to be there for each other through grief, and happier times too.
We’d like to welcome you to join us for a virtual Light Up A Life ceremony on Facebook at 7pm on Tuesday 1st December. We hope you can be with us in your own way, and gain comfort in being ‘virtually’ surrounded by your neighbours and people from across the world, as we unite in remembering and celebrating our loved ones. Please click here to follow us on Facebook and see up-to-date information about the event. The virtual event will also be available to view on our website and YouTube.
Dedications are welcome from now until the end of January, when the book will be updated; we’re hoping to be able to invite you to view the physical book at the hospice from February, and you are welcome to visit our grounds individually or in small groups throughout December and January to see the lights shining brightly in St Catherine’s Park.
We’re also sending out special Light Up A Life tea lights and cards in the post for you to display at home.
Thank you for your remarkable support.
