Nursing Assistant – Hospice at Home
Temporary job role until July 2026.
The service directly supports discharges from hospital and ensures rapid access to home care, helping to relieve pressure on the NHS and help more people to achieve their wishes to die at home.
The role of the Home Health Care Assistants will involve providing hands-on care and emotional support to patients and their families under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Health and social care qualifications are not essential, as substantial training will be provided by St Catherine’s. Successful candidates will work alongside a Home Nursing Assistant colleague during each home visit, and will report to a qualified team leader.
Home Health Care Assistants will provide assistance with personal hygiene, mouth care, pressure area care and positioning, whilst the district nursing team will remain responsible for the administration and management of medications and other clinical needs.
The St Catherine’s at Home service also strives to provide practical and psychological support to family members and others involved in a person’s care. The aim is to allow loved ones to continue their input, and help families to prioritize the things that are most important to them in the precious time they have left together.
