Annual golf day remembers much-loved colleagues
Golfers swung into action to help raise vital funds for St Catherine’s Hospice at an annual charity golf day.
The event was organised by Iain Melling and held at Chorley Golf Club last month and saw more than 40 golfers take to the course in memory of Nigel Lloyd and Vic Walker.
Nigel, a keen golfer, was cared for by the hospice before he died in 2014.
The day itself started with breakfast at the club, a few rounds of golf and a raffle and presentation at the end. The sun was shining and everyone was in really good spirits.
St Catherine’s fundraising officer, Hayley Jackson, said “Without the continued support from people like Iain in the local community, we couldn’t continue providing specialist palliative and end-of-life care to people across Central Lancashire.
“We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved in the golf day, for raising an incredible £705.”
The next annual charity golf day will be on Wednesday September 29th 2018 at Chorley Golf Club. If you’re interested in playing, please call Iain on 07745 328044.
