Appointment of Chief Executive of St Catherine’s Hospice

Following a comprehensive recruitment process, St Catherine’s Hospice was pleased to announce, in February, the appointment of Helen McVey as Chief Executive. Helen is currently the Chief Executive of Pendleside Hospice. However, during the Coronavirus pandemic, Helen has decided that she wishes to remain at Pendleside to continue to lead the hospice through the crisis and its aftermath.

In the recruitment process, St Catherine’s Board felt that there were two excellent candidates whom they could have appointed. Consequently, St Catherine’s is pleased to announce that Lynn Kelly has been appointed as Chief Executive.

Lynn (pictured) has a strong professional background in media, education and training. Working at St Catherine’s for the last nine years, she is currently Director of Knowledge & Technical, managing a number of essential areas of the hospice’s work including education, training, volunteering, information systems, facilities and clinical administration. Lynn plays a key role in the charity’s new research and compassionate communities programmes, patient and family involvement, and partnerships with other hospices and academic institutions.

John Chesworth, Chair of the Board of Trustees, said: “We fully understand and respect Helen’s decision to remain at Pendleside Hospice and send our best wishes to her, and her team, as they guide their organisation through these turbulent times for the hospice movement brought about by the pandemic.”

Lynn will commence her new role on 05 September 2020 when the current CEO, Stephen Greenhalgh, retires.
