Birthday bash held in memory of much-loved sister
A birthday bash held in memory of a much-loved sister raised £1,300 to support the work of St Catherine’s Hospice.
Sean Jones, Joanne Cahoon and Amanda Baxter organised the eighties night to mark what would have been their sister Judith Jones’ 40th birthday.
The party, held at the Jubilee Club in Preston, welcomed more than 180 guests and netted a whopping £1,300.
The night featured a DJ playing eighties hits and many turned out in fancy dress for the occasion.
They wanted to organise the event as Judith had always planned a party to mark her 40th milestone – but sadly passed away in May following a battle with ovarian cancer.
She received support from St Catherine’s during her illness and spent some time on the In-Patient Unit before she died.
Sean’s partner Cindy Anderson, who also helped organise the bash along with Joanne’s daughter Anouska, said: “Although Judith was only in St Catherine’s for a short time the support she and the family received was fantastic.
“The hospice was also there for their mum Patricia when she was ill, and the family know other people who have been helped by St Catherine’s over the years. We all know Judith would be happy the party raised such a great amount for the hospice.”
