Birthday surprise for bike raffle winner!
Birthday boy Art Bailey received an extra present when he turned 69 – after being picked as the winner in a bike raffle organised by St Catherine’s Hospice!
Art bought tickets for the raffle during one of his visits to the hospice, where his wife Marg is currently being cared for. The draw was made at the Big Charity Bike Ride on Sunday May 18th and his ticket was pulled out as the winning number.
He received the news the brand new Claud Butler road bike was his just the day before his 69th birthday, and has now been inspired to get back in the saddle.
Art, from Cottam, said: “It was a big surprise as I never normally win anything! I saw the tickets on sale when I visited the hospice – I was happy to buy some as it was a way of giving back for the great care they are giving to Marg.
“Getting the news I’d won was very timely as it right before my birthday – it was an extra special present to receive! I have been quite a keen cyclist in the past so this is going to inspire me to get back into it. It will be great for keeping fit and in shape.
“It’s a lovely bike and I’m going to really enjoy riding it.”
St Catherine’s would like to say a big thank you to everyone who bought tickets and helped raise vital funds for the hospice.
