BLOG: Fashion Edit – Colour Blocking with Purpose
Local influencer and pre-loved fashion enthusiast Amy Halsted (@CharityShop_chic_88), who has a personal connection to the Hospice, recently visited our St Catherine’s charity shops, and left feeling inspired, colourful and ready for spring.
“Try something bold! Pick two colours you wouldn’t wear together. And if it’s not quite you, donate it back — low risk, high reward.”
During her visit, Amy discovered an orange and pink Oliver Bonas sweater — “the ultimate happy combo” — alongside a pair of two‑tone Alexander McQueen heels, proving that designer treasures really do appear on our shelves.
For those wanting to try the trend more gently, Amy recommends teaming one bright piece with simple barrel‑leg jeans, like the pair she found in our new Chorley shop.
Choosing pre‑loved isn’t just fun — it’s powerful. Charity shops across the UK prevent huge amounts of clothing from going to landfill, and buying pre‑loved helps reduce the environmental impact of producing new fashion.
At St Catherine’s, we call this the butterfly effect — where one small act, like choosing a pre‑loved jumper, creates a ripple of compassion that supports our planet, our community, and the patients and families who rely on our care.
So next time you’re browsing our shops, follow Amy’s lead…
