St Catherine's Hospice > Bollywood set to arrive at St Catherine’s!

Bollywood set to arrive at St Catherine’s!

The bling-tastic world of Bollywood is set to arrive at St Catherine’s Hospice as part of the charity’s 30th anniversary celebrations.

Guests will be transported around the world in a whirl of colour and sparkle as a special marquee set up in the hospice grounds is transformed into an amazing Bollywood set.

St Catherine’s has teamed up with Neesh Events, a specialist in this field, to host the night on Friday June 26 and the charity is encouraging people to try something different in the name of a great cause.

Guests will be treated to music from an authentic Bollywood DJ and learn some traditional Bollywood dance moves from the experts. There will also be an Indian buffet and the chance to get made over by a Mehndi artist with amazing henna tattoos.

Bina

Bina Limbachia, who runs Neesh Events with her husband Ravish, said: “Bollywood is all about bright colours, lots of bling and generally being fabulously over the top – we’re going to recreate that right here in the St Catherine’s marquee and it’s going to look wonderful.

“As people arrive there’ll be two grand Roman pillars with a ‘Welcome to Bollywood’ sign hung above – this should make a great photo opportunity! And then once inside there’ll be lots of mood lighting, coloured drapes, lanterns, Arabian vases and colourful garlands. Bollywood posters, props and a Bollywood style back-drop will complete the look, and really make people feel like they are somewhere completely different.

“We’ll have some amazing dancers here performing, who will also interact with the crowd and show them how to do some of the popular moves from the movies – things like the ‘light bulb’ which people might already recognise.”

Bina, from Broadgate, has been running the company – which specialises in Asian weddings – for the past 10 years, and says Bollywood events are becoming increasingly popular.

“The popularity of Bollywood started years ago with the older generations in Asian communities who loved to watch all the movies on videos.

“Now it’s becoming popular with people from all circles – the glitz, the bling, the Bhangra and Bollywood music and of course the dancing, it’s just such good fun! We’re delighted to be involved with bringing this event to St Catherine’s as they celebrate their 30th anniversary. It’s a privilege to work with an organisation which does such good in the local community and to help them organise something that little bit different to mark their milestone anniversary.”

Emma Jacovelli, fundraiser at St Catherine’s Hospice, encouraged people to get their tickets for this exclusive new event.

“We’re very excited to be bringing our first ever Bollywood Night to St Catherine’s and can’t wait to see the transformation inside our amazing anniversary marquee!” she said.

“We hope people can join us for a fabulous night out, which will also raise vital funds to support the care and support of St Catherine’s.”

Tickets cost £20 and are available here or by calling 01772 629171.
