St Catherine's Hospice > Car enthusiasts enjoy first ‘Classics at The Mill’ event

Car enthusiasts enjoy first ‘Classics at The Mill’ event

Classics at The Mill July 2017 - Wolseley Owners Club (3)Classic car owners and enthusiasts rolled up to The Mill café and community hub at the weekend, for the first social event of its kind in St Catherine’s Park.

‘Classics at The Mill’ was organised by Wolseley Owners Club with St Catherine’s Hospice, the charity which receives all the proceeds from The Mill.

Wolseley Owners Club chairman, Nick Freeman, said: “Wolseley Owners Club was pleased to initiate the first ‘Classics at The Mill’ for St Catherine’s Hospice in Lostock Hall. This classic car meet was enjoyed by all, with 47 classic cars attending on this occasion.

“It was great to see a good mix of classics, young and old, from a variety of classic car clubs and individual owners. The Mill proved to be a great meeting place for classic car owners and enthusiasts to get together and have breakfast and lunch.”

He added: “The club and the wider classic car community are delighted to support the truly outstanding and caring services provided by St Catherine’s Hospice and The Mill; at the same time providing an interesting display of classic cars to families and members of the public visiting.”

Nicola Hanmer, commercial catering manager at St Catherine’s Hospice and The Mill, said: “We were really keen to get involved in this venture and were pleased with such a fantastic turnout. It’s great to be able to host such a variety of events in St Catherine’s Park.

“We served up hot breakfast rolls and drinks from a gazebo in the car park, so that visitors could continue to admire the cars on show and socialise with fellow owners and enthusiasts, whilst enjoying a bite to eat. Many of the members also came into the café for lunch; it’s always a pleasure to welcome new customers, and we’re thrilled that they enjoyed the occasion so much.

“We’ve planned another ‘Classics at The Mill’ following the success and popularity of this inaugural meet. The next event will be held on Sunday 13th August between 10am and 2pm, and we’re really looking forward to it.”
