Chorley Building Society scheme pays off for customers and charity

The more customers invest in their future, the more Chorley Building Society donates to St Catherine’s

A building society cashier is encouraging customers to be savvy with their savings and recognise the value of paying into an account which supports the vital work of St Catherine’s.

Emma Holding, a customer advisor at Chorley Building Society, is counting on people choosing to give back to their local charity, without it costing them a penny!

Like many of her customers, Emma invests in an Affinity Account with the society, which makes an annual donation to St Catherine’s based on the accounts’ balance – at no cost to the customer.

Last year, support from Chorley Building Society funded a nursing assistant for a whole year, which is just brilliant!

“People like knowing they are helping a local charity simply by contributing to their own personal savings account,” Emma said. “St Catherine’s is close to a lot of people’s hearts, including my own.

“My mum, Kathleen Brown, spent her final days at the hospice in 2011. She was diagnosed with terminal breast cancer earlier that year and it was a massive shock to the family.

“We didn’t know what to do, but we knew she didn’t want to die in hospital. It was an extremely traumatic time, but once she was admitted to St Catherine’s, we knew she was in good hands and it was reassuring to know that she was comfortable.

“I don’t know what we would have done without St Catherine’s – the staff were so kind and everything was done with great dignity.”
