Couple held fifth Irish Night in aid of local charity
Ashton couple Allan and Maureen Gaskell held their fifth Irish Night in aid of St Catherine’s Hospice, at St Bernard’s function room in Ashton.
The couple have supported the hospice since 2000, when they started donating furniture after Allan’s mum was cared for by the charity.
Maureen said: “The work the hospice does is extremely important, the staff are so friendly – Allan’s mum received the best care.
“I thoroughly enjoy organising the Irish Nights, this year my friend Patricia Donaldson helped me massively in the run up to the event.”
The night featured a performance from the Irish dancing group The Siobhan Joyce Irish dancers, Thistle band, a buffet and also a raffle and auction.
St Catherine’s head of community and engagement, Emma Jacovelli, said: “We’re extremely grateful to Maureen and Allan for once again supporting the hospice through their popular Irish Night and raising £1,377.80 for the charity. The couple have now raised an incredible £7,337.67.
“With the continued support from people like Allan and Maureen, we’re able to continue providing specialist, personalised and compassionate care to local people when it matters most.”
