Cumberland donates £1,600 through pledge for votes initiative
Cumberland Building Society has kindly donated £1,600 to St Catherine’s Hospice as part of their ‘pledge for votes’ initiative.
Since 1997, the Cumberland has pledged to donate an amount to charities in the region for each vote received at the Society’s Annual General Meeting.
The proportion of members voting in 2015 was one of the highest of all building societies, with more than 23,000 votes received, resulting in a total donation of over £11,800. This has been split equally between 7 hospices in the Society’s operating area to support their day-to-day running costs, with one of those being St Catherine’s.
Joanne Atkinson, Preston branch manager, said: “The response from our members has been outstanding and I would like to thank everyone who voted. St Catherine’s Hospice in Preston provides an invaluable service in our area and we are delighted to provide this support.”
