Dad and daughters get ready to brave sponsored skydive

Two sisters are joining their adventurous 78-year-old dad in a daring sponsored skydive, after deciding to brave the jump following the pandemic.

Suzie Richards is an area retail manager at St Catherine’s Hospice and is based in The Mill Shop in the hospice grounds. Her sister Joey Holderness volunteers for the charity in the eBay department, and both are taking their support a step further as they prepare to leap out of a plane with their dad Len Isles.

Suzie explained: “Mine and Joey’s triplet James lives in Australia and he did a skydive in Sydney recently. We were amazed he’d done it and when we were all together watching the video, my dad said it’s something he’s always wanted to do.

“We just thought, why not do it together? After all the restrictions of the last couple of years, we just want to get out there and make memories and do things we haven’t done before. We had agreed that 2022 was going to be a year of new experiences and trying to live by my dad’s motto of making every day a good day.

“The next morning I came into work and saw the St Catherine’s skydive advertised, so we all signed up for our ‘Dad and Daughters Skydive’. We’re really excited and can’t wait to tick this amazing experience off our bucket lists. I know I’ll be nervous on the day, and my heart was beating so loudly even just creating our JustGiving page, but it will be incredible!”

Mum-of-two Suzie added: “Working and volunteering for St Catherine’s helps you realise how much every penny does count – the money does so much good and we want to do more to help. Joey and I have done the Moonlight and Memories Walk before, and we’ve hosted driveway stalls which have been great fun, and now we’re really looking forward to the skydive.”

Suzie and Len, both from Penwortham, and Joey, from New Longton, are taking to the skies on 28th May for the adrenaline challenge. To sponsor the trio please click here.
