Danielle hoping for sweet success with challenge
A dedicated St Catherine’s volunteer who was inspired to join the team following the care given to her grandfather is giving up wine and sweets for 60 days to raise money for the hospice.
Danielle Clare said St Catherine’s holds a very special place in her heart and she wanted to do something to raise money following her granddad’s experiences in 2012.
She said she wanted it to be her contribution to the Give A Gift campaign the hospice is currently running to mark its 30th annviversary.
Danielle, from Walton-le-Dale, said: “As it is lent, I thought I would give up something – but for 60 days instead to make it even more of a challenge!
“I really do love my wine and sweets – I have a glass most weekends and can eat sweets all day long so it’s going to be very difficult to go without until April 18th! It’s going to be that difficult I’ve given myself a forfeit – if I give in, I will dye my hair green, St Catherine’s green!
“I love volunteering at the hospice.I come in alternate Wednesday evenings and help out on the In-Patient Unit. I really enjoy this – the patients and staff are all very lovely.”
