Dentist takes on ultimate endurance challenge for local hospices
A dentist is encouraging people to lead active and healthy lifestyles by taking on the ultimate endurance feat – whilst raising funds for a number of hospices.
Dr Zuber Bagasi – founder of the Synergy Dental Group which has seven practices across Preston, Bolton, Bury, Blackburn, Blackpool and Ormskirk – is taking part in an Ironman triathlon challenge this July.
He will tackle a 2.4-mile lake swim in Pennington Flash in Leigh, followed by a 112-mile bike ride through Lancashire, finishing with a 26-mile marathon run which ends in Bolton city centre.
He will donate funds to St Catherine’s and other hospices in the areas where his practices are located.
Dr Bagasi said: “My motivation is two-fold; I want to inspire other working men into leading a more active and healthy lifestyle, and I want to raise money for some very worthy causes in the areas where Synergy Dental has a local presence.”
Norman Cutler, fundraiser at St Catherine’s Hospice, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to Dr Bagasi for thinking of St Catherine’s and for his generous support of hospice care across the area. His efforts will help many local families and people affected by life-shortening conditions, as our care extends into the community and people’s own homes, as well as the beautiful setting of the hospice.
“We wish him the very best of luck, and look forward to hearing all about this impressive feat!”
