St Catherine's Hospice > Family fun at St Catherine’s Yellow Day Garden Fete

Family fun at St Catherine’s Yellow Day Garden Fete

DSC_0072Families are invited down to the beautiful grounds of St Catherine’s Hospice for lots of fun, games and entertainment at the charity’s annual Yellow Day Garden Fete this June 19.

A host of attractions will be on offer this year from dancing displays and live music, to garden games, a bouncy castle, and a special visit from Disney princesses.

The Mill Outside, the catering arm of the charity’s onsite café, will be cooking up a tasty paella, and visitors get can get hands-on at a slimey scientific fun station.

St Catherine’s head of trading Rachel Hewitt said: “Yellow Day is always a great day out for the whole family with plenty of crafts and gift stalls, games such as the ever popular hook-a-duck, a bouncy castle, inflatable slide, treasure hunt, tombola and delicious food – there’s something for everyone!

“We’re looking forward to welcoming members of the community into the grounds of St Catherine’s Park to enjoy the range of attractions, which also includes two interactive fun stations from Mad Science North West, and entertainment from the Preston Pipe Band.

“The day also offers an opportunity for the public to support the hospice, as proceeds from the event help us continue supporting people with life shortening illnesses to receive specialist care and enjoy a good quality of life.”

Irish dancers will also put on a display for crowds, and youngsters can look forward to meeting princesses Elsa and Anna, from Disney’s Frozen.

Event sponsor Barkers Ssangyong will also be on hand during Yellow Day to showcase a range of vehicles, including a rare army sports pickup – one of only 10 in the country.

There will be limited parking on site; a shuttle bus service will be operating from Leyland Trucks on Croston Road provided by Walton’s Coaches.

The charity’s Yellow Ribbon Appeal has now launched for the occasion, which sees hundreds of ribbons tied in memory of loved ones to provide a poignant backdrop for the summer.

Each ribbon includes the name of the person a donation has been pledged for, with money raised going to support the specialised care of the hospice.
