Fayyaz pounded the pavements of Paris in support of St Catherine’s Hospice
Business analyst, Fayyaz Ali, of Southern Avenue, Preston, joined 45,000 people and took to the pavements of Paris, to run the 26.2 mile route around the famous Parisian landmarks.
In preparation for the marathon, Fayyaz trained hard for six months by attending spinning classes, running two or three times a week and regularly going to UCLan’s gym.
Fayyaz has supported the hospice in many different ways since his mother, Zubeda was cared for in August 2013. Including taking part in the Moonlight and Memories Walk – to try and help tackle the misconceptions in the Asian community around hospice care.
Fayyaz said: “I had great support from my family, who came with me to Paris, and were cheering me on from the sidelines. I felt prepared and excited for the run.
“When I hit the 20 mile mark my calves gave up, I hurt everywhere, even in places I didn’t know I had. The last six miles I walked and completed the marathon in five hours.”
Since completing the marathon, Fayyaz has raised an incredible £6,000 for the charity and has signed up for another 10k mile marathon and the Manchester half marathon.
