Freestyle footie star to be special guest at Yellow Day!

A freestyle footballer whose jaw-dropping kicks and tricks have wowed audiences around the world will be showing off his amazing skills at this year’s Yellow Day garden fete in aid of St Catherine’s Hospice.

John Farnworth, whose incredible talent has been showcased in adverts for top brands like Pepsi and Nike, will be a special guest at the popular annual event which takes place this year on Sunday June 21.

The 28-year-old Lancashire lad, who grew up in Longridge, is the holder of five Guinness World Records and has even completed the 26.2 mile London Marathon whilst doing continuous kick-ups.

Visitors to the Yellow Day event will get to see him in action up close and pick up some hints and tips from the footballing maestro to take away and practice.

John, who has won both the World and European Football Freestyle Championships, said: “I’m excited to be involved in Yellow Day and showing my support for all the fantastic things that St Catherine’s are doing.

“I feel in a privileged position to be able to use my skills in a positive way.”

Other attractions at Yellow Day, which is sponsored by Barkers Ssangyong, include a range of stalls, fairground rides, games, entertainment and a tasty BBQ.

Rachel Hewitt, head of trading at St Catherine’s Hospice, said: “We can’t wait to see John in action at Yellow Day – having watched his videos on TV and online we can’t believe all the incredible tricks he can do!

“The event is a must for any football fans, and with loads more on offer too we hope we can tempt lots of local families along for a really fun day out.”

Wendy Barker, from Barkers Ssangyong, said they were delighted to lend their support to the popular annual event.

“The Barker family are simply thrilled to unite with St Catherine’s Hospice and support what will be a wonderfully joyous and uplifting event,” she said.

Yellow Day takes place on Sunday June 21 from 11am until 4pm at St Catherine’s Hospice, Lostock Lane, Lostock Hall, Preston, PR5 5XU. Entry is £1 but free to children and those wearing yellow.
