From the cobbles to St Catherine’s!

Coronation Street star and St Catherine’s Hospice supporter Tisha Merry is set to be the guest of honour at the charity’s annual Yellow Day garden fete.

Tisha, who plays glamorous Bistro waitress Steph in the hit ITV soap, will be at the event held in the beautiful hospice grounds this Sunday June 15th.

The 21-year-old is keen to support the Lostock Hall charity after her grandfather Babilas Felicien John-Baptiste was cared for on the hospice in-patient unit earlier this year.

She will be available to sign autographs and pose for pictures at the fun family event, where other attractions will include stalls, games, a balloon race, and entertainment from several local groups including the Preston Pipe Band, the Truth Dance Studio and balloon modeller extraordinaire Daniel McCullough .

The St Catherine’s catering team will also be there serving up a tasty barbecue, as well as afternoon tea featuring cakes, scones, strawberries and cream and home-made biscuits.

The gorgeous hospice grounds, newly named St Catherine’s Park, will again be decorated with yellow ribbons – tied in memory of loved ones. People can make a pledge to the hospice in return for a ribbon, which are tied to the trees and hospice footbridge providing a pretty and poignant back drop to the day’s celebrations.

Tisha, who will tie a ribbon for her Granddad, said: “I’m really excited for Yellow Day – it sounds like it will be a great afternoon out which people can enjoy whilst helping to raise money for the hospice. The funds will help other people have access to the same wonderful care my Granddad and my family did which is so important.

“The yellow ribbons are another lovely idea and a great way to remember my happy, kind and generous granddad this summer.

“I’m really looking forward to meeting people down at the hospice on June 15th and hope the community turns out in force to show their support for an amazing place.”

Lorraine Charlesworth, Director of Income Generation at St Catherine’s Hospice, said: “Our Yellow Day garden fete is a lovely event – it’s always wonderful to welcome our supporters into the beautiful hospice grounds.

“There are many attractions on offer and we’re delighted Tisha will be joining us – we’re sure there will be a few Corrie fans out there pleased to meet her and hear about life on the Street, particularly after the dramatic storylines she has been involved with recently!

“We hope lots of people will join us for a fun, family day out whilst helping to raise vital funds.”

Yellow Day is held at the hospice in Lostock Lane, Lostock Hall, Preston, PR5 5XU on Sunday June 15th from 12pm until 4pm. Parking at the hospice is limited with priority for patients’ visitors and those with disabilities. A shuttle bus will be in operation from the nearby B&Q car park.

Yellow Ribbon dedications can be made online here, by ringing 01772 629171 or visiting the hospice.
