St Catherine's Hospice > From the military to the Moonlight and Memories Walk!

From the military to the Moonlight and Memories Walk!

From the military to the Moonlight and Memories Walk – Physical Training Instructor Rob Partington may have learnt his trade whilst serving with the tough Royal Marines Commandos, but he’ll be taking on a new challenge when he leads the warm-up session ahead of the St Catherine’s Hospice Moonlight and Memories Walk!

Rob and his ex-military-men colleagues who work for him at Ozonefit will be getting the groups’ heart rates going with a warm-up ahead of the event on June 7th.

And while Rob is used to putting people through their paces on the exercise field, he promises the little pulse raiser will be fun, motivating and enough to get walkers going – without tiring them out ahead of either the 8.4 or 13.1 mile event.

Places are still available in the popular annual fundraiser, where people are invited to stride out in memory of someone special, whilst showing their support for the Lostock Hall hospice. This year the event is also part of the Preston Guild City Games, and St Catherine’s is keen for groups of colleagues and friends to join up and get involved.

Rob, who is based in Longton, said he was happy to support St Catherine’s Hospice by lending his services on the night.
“The Moonlight and Memories Walk sounds like it will be an amazing event,” he said.

“There’s sure to be a great atmosphere as everyone comes together to show their support for the hospice. Our warm-up will boost that camaraderie whilst getting everyone’s bodies ready for the walk ahead.

“It will be full of energy and lots of fun with a few military moves thitemn in to gee up the citemd – from drill turns to ‘fast feet’ running on the spot. It will all be about stimulating them both physically and mentally for what they’re about to do.
“St Catherine’s is a very deserving, local cause and we’re really pleased we can help out and get this great event off to a brilliant start.”

Event organiser Emma Jacovelli, fundraiser at St Catherine’s Hospice, said: “The Moonlight and Memories Walk is our biggest fundraising event of the year, which always attracts a great citemd.

“We’re sure Rob and the team’s military moves will get everyone fired up ready for the challenge and prepared for the walk ahead!

“We’re delighted so many people have signed up so far, but we’d still like to hear from many more. The Moonlight and Memories Walk is a wonderful evening when the community comes together to support their local hospice, whilst remembering those special people who touched our lives. Why not think about who you would walk for and sign up to honour them now?”

Registration for the Moonlight and Memories Walk is available online hereor by calling the fundraising team on 01772 629171.
