St Catherine's Hospice > Fun for all the family at Christmas Festival

Fun for all the family at Christmas Festival

The stunning grounds of St Catherine’s Hospice will be transformed into a festive winter wonderland again this year when we celebrate our second Christmas Festival.
The event was such a success last year we’ve organised another two fun-filled days of festival action to take place on December 6th and 7th.

Returning in 2013 will be the popular ice rink, and Santa will again take up residence in the hospice summerhouse as it is transformed into his grotto.
Visitors will be able to get stuck into their Christmas shopping at a host of gift stalls, and treat themselves to some tasty winter warmers at a food market welcoming local suppliers and the team from the St Catherine’s kitchen.

Music from local choirs and bands performing hymns and carols and a vintage fairground will also add to the feel-good festive atmosphere.
Rachel Hewitt, Head of Trading, said: “We were overwhelmed with the amount of people who came to show their support for the festival last year.
“Now we are building on last year’s event – making this year’s festival bigger and better, with more attractions for the family to enjoy.
“We hope to welcome lots of visitors to the hospice to celebrate the start of the festive season, whilst raising much-needed funds to support our work.”
A highlight of the event is sure to be the St Catherine’s Hospice Festive Bake Off – click here for more information and for details of how to enter.
For the first time this year the annual St Catherine’s Santa Dash will be held on Saturday December 7th as part of the festival.
Santas will set off on their two-mile sponsored dash or dawdle from the hospice grounds and complete a route around Lostock Hall. Joining them will be a herd of reindeers taking part in the Rudolph Rumble half-mile fun run.

Norman Cutler, Senior Fundraiser, said: “The Santa Dash is such a fun event for all and people really enjoy taking part to raise funds for the hospice.
“Last year we introduced the event to schools and were pleasantly surprised at the amount of interest and support we received from pupils, so we hope more children will be inspired to sign up this year.
“We hope the Santa Dash and Rudolph Rumble will really add to the festive atmosphere at our second Christmas Festival.”
