Gear up for the famous Manchester to Blackpool bike ride with St Catherine’s
St Catherine’s Hospice is calling on cyclists of all abilities to put their foot in the pedal and take on the renowned Manchester to Blackpool bike ride this summer.
The popular 60-mile challenge returns on Sunday, 9th July, setting off from the Imperial War Museum on Salford Quays and finishing on the South Promenade in Blackpool.
St Catherine’s is providing return transport from the hospice in Lostock Hall, and is encouraging cycling novices and veterans to gear up for the challenge.
Hospice fundraiser Norman Cutler said: “The Manchester to Blackpool bike ride has always been popular with our supporters, which is why we’re excited to be bringing it back to our fundraising calendar this year.
“It’s a fun, non-competitive, leisurely ride which brings together cyclists of all ages and abilities for a journey between two regional landmarks through some beautiful countryside.
“The atmosphere on the day is fantastic as friends, family, colleagues and neighbours team up to raise vital funds for a worthy cause. All money raised through sponsorships helps us to continue our important work supporting more people to have quality of life, to the end of life.”
Registration is £20 and return transport for riders and their bikes from the hospice is £10 each. Riders must be aged 14 or over and under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
The challenge is ideal for the regular and reasonably fit cyclist, and is suitable for road, hybrid and mountain bikes.
