Huge donation to hospice will buy furniture for patients and families
Money donated to St Catherine’s by the Dawn Morley Cancer Foundation will be used to buy new furniture for the hospice’s conservatory.
Friends and family set up the foundation after Dawn was cared for in the hospice in 2014.
Three weeks after Dawn’s death, the ‘Doing it for Dawn’ event – a two-hour sponsored workout – was held in the hospice grounds, which raised enough money to cover the cost of running our in-patient unit for a day.
Following on from the event, there has been further fundraising for the hospice including skydives, sponsored walks, balls, raffles and much more.
St Catherine’s Hospice fundraiser, Emma Jacovelli, said: “We’re extremely grateful for the donation of £7,465.22.
“The money donated will provide new furniture in the conservatory in our in-patient unit. It will brighten up the room and help create a more attractive and comfortable place for patients and their families to enjoy time away from their rooms.”
