Irish bash raised vital cash!
Two friends raised nearly £4,000 for St Catherine’s Hospice in the space of just six months thanks to two Irish celebration nights organised in their local community.
Maureen Gaskell and Ethel Maguire organised the first back in September at St Bernard’s funciton room in Ashton. Attractions included live music and dancing and more than £2,000 was raised.
Then in March – in honour of St Patrick’s Day – they organised a second event, which welcomed the Shamrock Irish Dancers who performed live along with other traditional musicians.
This celebration raised another fantastic £1,900 for the hospice.
Maureen, who visited the hospice recently to hand over the latest proceeds, said: “Both were fantastic nights where everyone had a great time whilst supporting an important local charity.
“We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who supported the events and ensured they were such a success.”
