Jim got on his bike to support hospice
A keen cyclist got on his bike to support St Catherine’s Hospice and raised more than £600.
Jim Nelson, who has enjoyed cycling as a hobby since he retired, rode the 21-mile Preston Guild Wheel at the end of November at the age of 82!
Jim completed the challenge in memory of a dear friend and his sister-in-law and her daughter, raising more than £600 in their memories.
Jim, from Leyland, said: “I know what a great place St Catherine’s is and how well they care for people – this was my way of doing something to help.
“It took me around three hours to complete the ride. It was a lovely winter’s day and I thoroughly enjoyed it. A big thank you goes to everyone who sponsored me and helped me raise this money for the hospice.”
Emma Jacovelli, Head of Community Engagement, said: “We’re extremely grateful to Jim for taking on this challenge in aid of St Catherine’s – the money he has raised will help us to care for local people, helping them to have quality of life to the end of life.”
