Keen cyclists remember friends in the ‘perfect’ way
A group of cyclists touched by the work of St Catherine’s took part in a sponsored bike ride of the 21 mile Preston Guild Wheel for the hospice.
The memorial ride, organised by Jim Nelson, and accompanied by Rachel Harris, Kieron Harris and Jim Bird was in memory of Heather Penman and Frank Turner, both of whom died three years ago having spent time at St Catherine’s.
The sponsored cycle raised £1,244 for the hospice with sponsorship coming mostly from friends at St Andrew’s and St James’ church in Leyland, and even the weather played its part in a wonderful day last month.
“It was a perfect day,” said Jim after handing the money over at the hospice.
“We were uncertain whether we could still go through with it because of how dreadful the weather had been the previous few days, but it cleared up and it was a fantastic day.
“We chose to do this for St Catherine’s as the care both of our friends received while they were here was second to none.”
