Two Symphony At The Tower concerts cancelled
Statement from Cuffe and Taylor:
“It is with sadness that we have to announce that two concerts of the weekend’s Symphony At The Tower event in Lancashire have had to be cancelled.
“Will Young and the Symphony Spectacular were due to take place on Friday July 1 and Sunday July 3 respectively.
“However, the torrential rain this week has made the Hoghton Tower arena site unsafe and, after taking health and safety advice, we have regrettably taken the decision to cancel both Will Young’s concert and the Symphony Spectacular.
“We are pleased to announce that Joe Bonamassa’s Symphony At The Tower concert will go ahead on Saturday July 2 but will now be moved to Preston Guild Hall due to the Hoghton Tower arena site being unsafe. Anyone who purchased tickets for Joe Bonamassa’s Hoghton Tower concert will be able to attend the concert at the Guild Hall.
“Sadly we cannot reschedule Will Young’s concert or the Symphony Spectacular. Anyone who purchased tickets for these concerts can claim a face value refund by going directly to the ticket agent they bought the tickets through.”
Symphony At The Tower is St Catherine’s Hospice’s flagship fundraising event, generating income to provide palliative and end-of-life care for people in Central Lancashire.
Statement from St Catherine’s Hospice:
Stephen Greenhalgh, Chief Executive St Catherine’s Hospice, said: “Having thoroughly examined the saturated ground conditions and every option for our flagship event, in conjunction with partners Cuffe & Taylor, Hoghton Tower and Chorley Council it was with great disappointment that we agreed that the Symphony at the Tower could not go ahead at Hoghton Tower on grounds of safety.
“We feel desperately sorry for those who have been looking forward to this outstanding weekend and hope that they will appreciate that we will always put their personal wellbeing first.
“We can assure our dedicated supporters that through contingency plans, no funds will be lost through the cancellation of this event although, we will lose important revenue that would have been earned over the weekend.
“We are delighted that Cuffe & Taylor have found a way to re-locate the Saturday night Joe Bonamassa concert to the Guild Hall. We are making every effort to let people know what is happening and give our sincerest apologies for the inconvenience caused.”
