Let it Rain! Let it Rain! Let it Rain!
Santa and his reindeers are used to flying through snow and blizzards, but on Sunday 4th December they ran through the wind and rain for St Catherine’s Hospice.
About 200 Santas and reindeers ran through the streets of Preston in St Catherine’s annual sponsored Santa Dash.
The event began with the Reindeer Run for those aged 8 and under who ran, walked and toddled .75km complete with antlers and red flashing noses. One of the youngest reindeers was six month old Rebecca Ball who did have a little help from mum.
At 12 noon Preston Mayor CouncillourBobby Cartwright sounded the hooter to start the 5K Santa Dash as 150 Santas raced after the St Catherine’s “turkey” Jon Armitage.
Some Santas ran, others walked and two were pushed in prams. One Santa ran with his dog while another provided his own costume. Everton fan Adrian Gregory couldn’t bring himself to run in the colours of rivals Liverpool, so he raced in his own blue suit!
Despite the weather it was a great day. There were plenty of smiles and lots of money was raised for the Hospice. Thank youto everyone who took part; the runners, their supporters, the volunteers who helped on the day, the Mayor of Preston, A1 Traffic Management and Lancashire Police.
Thnk you!
