Leyland Freemasons visit St Catherine’s to hand over latest donation
Representatives from the Leyland and District Freemasons visited St Catherine’s Hospice to hand over their latest donation.
The group is a long-standing support of the charity, making donations each December/January from the national Freemasons Grand Charity fund as well as each spring as part of their annual Giving Day.
The latest cheque totalled a fantastic £3,783 which will be used to help St Catherine’s deliver its specialised care to local people.
Visiting the hospice to see how the money is spent were Peter Taylor, Provincial Secretary, Ray Martland, Assistant Provincial Grand Master, Stewart Seddon, Leyland Group Chairman, and Jeff Lucas, the Grand Charity Steward.
They met with St Catherine’s Chief Executive Stephen Greenhalgh as well as other Directors and staff, before enjoying a touring of the hospice.
The Leyland Freemasons’ support also extends to assisting with the marshalling of the St Catherine’s Moonlight and Memories Walk, which this year takes place on Saturday June 4th. Members will once again be giving their time to steward the route and ensure it is safe for walkers raising money for the hospice.
Jeff said: “We’re delighted to support St Catherine’s which is a wonderful cause – not only through our on-going donations, but also by getting hands on and helping out with their Moonlight and Memories Walk.
“We first got involved with this event last year and this year are looking forward to being able to do even more to help save the hospice valuable funds, and ensure a safe and enjoyable event for all taking part.”
Peter added: “Although I have visited St Catherine’s before, it has not been for a few years and things have changed and developed a lot since then.
“It was fantastic to see and hear about how the money we donate helps the hospice to make a difference to local people.”
