Local artist puts talent to good use with charity workshop

A lover of art brought his passion to The Mill with a Watercolour Workshop for beginners.

Local artist Edwin Williams volunteered to share his expertise with keen artists at The Mill, through a session, which included information and tips on watercolour equipment, techniques, and the colour wheel. The group then put their new skills into action painting a picture to take home to keep.

The popular workshop raised £360 in total for the hospice, but Edwin didn’t stop there, raffling one of his own paintings and raising £170, meaning the artist raised £530 for St Catherine’s Hospice

“Over the last 20 years, I have sought every opportunity to share my love of art and the value it can bring to our lives with other people,” said Edwin after the event.

“I regularly look to raise funds for local charities and societies and it was through a meeting with Lynn Kelly (Director of Knowledge Exchange Services at the hospice) that the opportunity to volunteer my services to raise much needed funds for the hospice through a Beginners Watercolour Class was planned.

“I truly believe it is imperative that we support the value of hospices and I much admire the work of everyone associated with them, and therefore I really wanted to contribute to their continued provision.

“The Watercolour Workshop for Beginners was a truly memorable event in every respect. The people, the facilities and the food were exemplary and the feedback from those who attended has been extremely good.”
