Matt and Jack’s unusual fundraising challenge for St Catherine’s!
Friends Matt Beattie and Jack Whitfield have raised funds for St Catherine’s in a rather unusual way – by sitting in a bath full of gelatine for as long as possible!
The 17-year-olds – who have an online following thanks to their wacky challenges which they promote through videos on their YouTube channel – came up with the idea after gaining interest from their fans when they had a cola and Mentos bath earlier this year.
They decided to take the concept to the next level and promised to film themselves having a bath in a huge block of jelly if they reached a £200 fundraising target for the hospice.
Thanks to their efforts, they have donated a wonderful £325 to the charity, after sitting the bath for four hours.
Jack, who studies media at Runshaw College, and Matt, who has an apprenticeship with AO.com, said it was ‘lots of fun, but very cold!’
Hayley Jackson, community engagement officer for St Catherine’s Hospice, said: “This is certainly one of the more unusual ways that donations have been raised for us! We’d like to say a massive ‘thank you’ to Matt and Jack for coming up with this really creative way of raising not only vital funds for our charity, but also awareness of our cause amongst their fans. They wore their St Catherine’s t-shirts with pride in the video!
“I can’t wait to see what crazy idea they come up with next to entertain their followers!”
