Myerscough College Student Fundraisers Do It Again
Myerscough College’s Student Association (MCSA) presented a cheque of £3,484 to St Catherine’s Hospice Care at their annual Health and Wellbeing Day on Monday 10th October.
Every year the MCSA pick one charity which they intend to support with fundraising activities throughout the year. These include events such as the College’s RAG Week as well as regular themed nights at the on-site Stumble Inn Bar.
This money is then accumulated together and presented to the chosen charity at the Health and Wellbeing Day were students and staff find out more about health and fitness as well as speaking to representatives from external and internal services.
MCSA President, Claire Fry, said: “Everybody involved with the Student Association is delighted with the money we have managed to raise for St Catherine’s Hospice Care. The work they do is absolutely fantastic and we were genuinely thrilled to be giving to such a worthwhile cause.”
Lynne Whittaker, Senior Fundraiser for St Catherine’s Hospice Care, was on hand to receive the cheque from Claire Fry as well as Myerscough College Chief Executive and Principal, Ann Turner, and Head Warden, Rob Kay. She commented: “We’d like to thank Myerscough College and their Student Association for all their efforts in raising such a fantastic sum of money. Donations like this help us with our day to day activities at the Hospice and allow us to provide care for our patients.St. Catherine’s Hospice provides specialist palliative care for the people of Chorley, Preston, Longridge and South Ribble. Care includes specialist community nurses, day care, in-patient care, family support, lymphoedema, complementary therapies and many more.”
