NatWest staff kick-start a year of fundraising for St Catherine’s Hospice

Bank staff from NatWest’s Preston branch are preparing for a busy year of fundraising and volunteering for St Catherine’s, after colleagues chose the hospice to benefit from their support.

Preston branch manager Samantha Stewart explained: “Each branch is encouraged to support its local communities, and last year a national charity was chosen for us in the north west. This time, we’ve been given the opportunity to support a local charity and St Catherine’s was the resounding choice from the Preston team.

“A lot of us have experienced the care of the hospice with our own loved ones, or we all know of someone who has been cared for by the charity – the work of St Catherine’s is invaluable and we want to do what we can to help.

“We’ve started by holding a dress down day and collecting Easter egg donations, and we’re planning to volunteer in the grounds or the hospice shops – wherever we are needed! We’re also inviting the fundraisers into the branch occasionally to sell tickets for the annual car raffle, for example, and we have collection boxes for our customers to make donations if they wish.”

Emma Jacovelli, head of community engagement at the Lostock Hall charity, said: “We’re delighted to hear that staff at Preston’s NatWest branch have selected St Catherine’s this year, and we’re looking forward to working with them and hearing all about their varied fundraising ideas over the next 12 months.

“It is only thanks to the generosity and support of our communities that we can continue offering our specialised palliative and end-of-life care to local people at the hospice and in people’s own homes, so we’re very grateful to staff at NatWest for showing their support.”
